Review/ Misery Index: "Traitors"

img  Tobias

After being on tour for what seems like forever, Misery Index finally found the time to record their brand new album,”Traitors”. I was personally anxiously anticipating fresh material by Misery Index.  Their previous work left me slightly dissatisfied, after all. Not because it was bad – far from it! Simply put, I was deeply convinced that they could do so much better.

“Traitors” now fully meets my expectations; the combination of their classic death metal with Grind influences makes for an intoxicating and utterly irresistible potion fusing iclassical Death Metal school influences and the contemporary sounds of the Brutal Death Metal wave with bands like Dying Fetus, Deeds of Flesh…

The album´s name “Traitors” perfectly transport the band´s ideology in a single word and so do songs like “Theocracy”, “Occupation”, “American Idolatry”… It would by no means be an exaggeration to claim that Misery Index , on the strength of this album, have tunrned into one of the leading current  formations of the legendary label Relapse Records. Don´t be a traitor and just follow the real leaders!
