Review/ Agathodaimon: "Phoenix"

img  Tobias

Agathodaimon are the kind of band which have been named as a reference for many years but are not enjoying the commercial success they deserve. Nonetheless, it is no surprise that Agathodaimon are enjoying a cult status on the metal scene.

For each of their albums, expectations are extremely high; only fools would have thought that just because they contributed a song to US Movie Soundtrack “Alone in the Dark”, they would end their way of doing music. This opportunity has certainly not turned their heads, Agathodaimon have remained themselves.

They may have taken time to work on their 5th album, but the result is definitely worth it. You can clearly hear that every single song has been carefully composed. “Phoenix” is is extreme, melodic, atmospheric and – frankly - genial. Ashtrael's (vocals) performance on “Phoenix” is astonishing, mixing clear, death & black metal vocals.

The limited digipack edition includes two bonus tracks, which provides you with a total of more than 70 minutes of great Dark Metal. Phoenix is simply a Dark Melodic Masterpiece, grandiose!
