Quiet Listening: 4th Headphone Festival
The „Headphone Festival“ Leipzig may well be the only concert series to ask you to seal your ears. Already in its fourth edition, this most unusual event invites over a wide selection of international artists for seemingly regular live performances. The music will, however, not be transmitted by huge walls of speaker systems but through headphones. Visitors, who are invited to bring in their own pair, will be able to plug in and take a relaxed position in comfortable “listening islands”, while immersing themselves fully in the music. Genres to be featured are postrock, impro, electronica, plunderphonics, electro, ambient and many more, according to the organisors: The privatelektro label on the one hand and the Kuhlturm on the other, a cultural meeting point with a focus on an open exchange of thoughts and creative ideas. With this location and a much wider scope, according to promotor Marek Brandt, the “Headphone Festival” is looking for more publicity and worldwide attention – all sets will be broadcast on the internet. Time frame of the concerts: August 10th to August 12th.
