Matthew Dear: Asa Breed Black Edition

Ghostly International now offers a special „Black Edition“ of Matthew Dear's 2007 album „Asa Breed“, which includes remixes by Four Tet and current media darlings Hot Chip, an exclusive from the „Deserter EP“ as well as the video to the track „Don & Sherri“. For anyone who has passed on one of last year's most succesful albums, this represents a chance to discover „Asa Breed“'s mix of Pop, Folk, Blues and Techno – which catapulted Matthew Dear from one of experimental music's hopefuls straight into the territory of the Bilboard Charts – and allow fans to extend upon the listening pleasures by showing the music from a different angle. The sweet digital marimba ballad „Deserter“ turns into a stripped-down piece of summerly minimal music like Philipp Glass in love and Hot Chip transfer the Acid trip „Don and Sherri“ to the bedroom with a remix which mellows the adrenalin-rush of the original and focusses on the Matthew Dear's warm vocals to arrive at a catchy sine-wave lullabye.

What singled „Asa Breed“ out was the unanimously positive reception across the board. Suddenly, not only insider mags were raving about Matthew Dear's transformation from minimal techno producer to mature songwriter, but even Rolling Stone Magazine and Entertainment Weekly were reporting on theremarkable things flowing from the decks of a man who had formerly become a figurehead of labels like M_nus and Perlon. Right now, Matthew Dear is touring with a live band, distancing himself even further from the studio days of the past, while keeping the energy and flow of his days in electronic dance music.

„Asa Breed – Black Edition“ will be released in North America on 11th of March and a month earlier in the rest of the world.
