Marialy Pacheco: "Mi Azul" presents a Cuban kind of blue
TobiasEven though “Mi Azul” focusses on the temperaments between keys and revels in oneiric introspection, there are also plenty of red-blooded outbursts of fire and passion to be found on the album. In this respect, the opening title track, with its groovy bass loops and soft, jazzy chords is a perfect example of Marialy Pacheco’s voice.
Marialy Pacheco shot to national fame at the age of 18, when she won a competition in Cuba. At the Chorolympiade in Bremen, she is feted by the jury and public alike, making use of the opportunity to found her trio. In 2005, she records the album “Bendiciones”, a first taste of her compositional talents, which she aims to fortify with pieces for various instrumentations, including string quartets.
