Glenn dethroned?

img  Tobias

Glenn Goulds interpretation of Bachs eternal masterpiece has already reached the status of an untouchable effort in its own right - which could lead one to believe the work was actually called "Gouldberg-Variations". In the past, many have tried to present an equally intense recording, but to no avail (even though some have arguably come close). Now, Italian harpsichordist and organ virtuoso Fabio Bonizzoni offers his ambitous version, which his record company describes as "magical, intelligent, subtle, solid, coherent and contemporary". Not bad, eh! In any case, it definitely marks the peak of Bonizzonis career up to now, who first drew attention by being the first student of the renowned The Hague Conservatory to graduate both in baroque organ and as a harpsichordist.
