Mobius Band: Love will reign supreme - and for free

At the dawn of their tour through Europe and the UK, the Mobius Band have released a free EP containing cover versions of their favourite love songs. The EP has already been available for download since Valentine’s day, but now gains fresh relevance as the group is set to team up with the electrifying guitar-melodies and heartbleed-tunes of their colleagues Editors – whom they will be opening for. “Love will reign supreme” contains a total of six pieces, ranging from Neil Young to Daft Punk, with the reworkings by the Mobius band sounding just as colourful as the mix of their muses. Neil Young’s “Razor Love” is turned into a digitally grooving slab of darkly romantic protopunk, while tribal toms twitch underneath the romantic guitar ringings of Bob Dylan’s “I’ll keep it with mine”. The robo-rhimes of Daft Punk’s “Digital Love”, finally, find themselves suddenly released from their electronic corsett and endowed with ample polyphonic harmonies and warmly picked acoustic guitars. It goes without saying that it is a highly recommended addendum to their full-length “Heaven”, recently released on Misra Records.

The concerts with Editors are going to continue well into April, before the band hops over the Atlantic, with first dates already confirmed for the American leg of their tour. For anyone interested in nitty gritty and dirty little details of life on the road, the Mobius Band have started a web blog, where you can find information on how they wrecked a tank station (sort of), a “bearded gentleman with the crazed glint in his eye” and an academic essay on the Rambo trilogy.
