Masters of the Middle Ages

img  Tobias

The middle ages are definitely back! More than just a few bands are currently touring Europe, citing Hildegard von Bingen as an influence and old times as inspiration. The "montalbane"-Festival in Freyburg (in Saxony, Germany) is one of the best places to check out some of the most noteworthy formations of the genre and to listen to the music where it was conceived: At castles and old market places. French group Millenarium kicks off the proceedings with a programm of songs taken from the "Carmina Burana". Just to be sure: No Carl Orff here, but instead a program made up of the more refined poems of the collection. The first Midnight Concert will take place at castle Neuenburg and see Germans Diphona enter the stage for "Carmen Mystica" - a journey back to the 13th century and the French minstrels. It's the first of a series of concerts starting after ten o'clock to evoke the mysticism of medieval times. Apart from the music, there will also be talks and a special mass, ensuring the day can be spent entirely in fashion and noone gets bored. We'll keep you updated while news on the festival comes in.
