Manuel Göttsching: Blesses Biberach and Beijing

The delicate balance between chambermusical ensemble pieces and atmospheric electronics was one of the corner stones of “Concert for Murnau”, which raised awareness in the most diverse corners of the musical world. Experiencing “The Haunted Castle” in its visually rejuvenated glory and the subtle but stirring sounds of its 21st century soundtrack is not the only Göttsching-related highlight of the Festival: Only three hours earlier, “Postcards from Japan”, a musical road movie and a postcard from his tour through Japan with Polish mltimedia artist Kinga Kielczynska will receive its world premiere. Somewhere in between documentary and concert registration, the film continues in the footsteps of recently released DVD “Wroclaw Live”, which featured the duo preparing for their appearance in Poland.

In more international news, Göttsching will be the headliner of the “German Night” in Beijing on 1st November, featuring a stylistically diverse range of acts and artists. Leading projects like Gothic Avantgardists Deine Lakaien and ambitious electronica pioneer Olaf Bender, Göttsching will present his seminal composition “E2-E4” live for the first time in China at the D22 club, only recently acknowledged on by underground sound artists Yan Jun as one of the places to be in terms of experimental sounds in his article for tokafi. The show will take place at 9.30 pm and include a session with some Chinese colleagues. At 50 RMB/30 RMB, prices for the gig are, by the way, extremely sympathetic as well.

Oh, and if you should have missed out on the Biberach performance, there’s a chance to witness the live soundtrack concert at Beijing’s Yugong Yishan Club, No.3-2 Zhang zi Zhong Road, Dongschen District on 5th November. And this time, it’s entirely for free!
