Gabriela Montero: Live in my Living RoomAfter infusing the entire classical scene with energy, Pianist Gabriela Montero is now allowing everyone into her most private spaces. “Live In My Living Room” is the name of her latest project and it will bring the talents of the Venezuelan to households everywhere by using the internet as its highway. For “Live In My Living Room”, Gabriela Montero will be hosting a free monthly concert from her house on her personal website. These concerts will consist of the very improvisations Gabriela Montero has become famous for and which she has continously presented alongside the classical standard repertoire both in her concerts and on CD. The basis for these improvisations will be themes suggested by fans and the general public. Topics can range from “Emotions, beautiful visions, inspirations from other composers” to “a film or television show that touched you”. Gabriela Montero has asked for submissions to be sent to her directly and without delay - the first volume of “Live In My Living Room” is scheduled for December already.
Basically, the “Live In My Living Room” tracks can be considered as spontaneous personal compositions, sparked by the theme to each show. The music resulting Gabriela Montero’s performance will be available for free download for a total of three days (and, after that, probably via iTunes, even though there is no specification of that). Suggestions for “Live In My Living Room” can be up to 50 words long and should be sent to Gabriela Montero via an email address at her site. Suppliers of “winning themes” will be notified immediately.
Within the time of a mere three albums (both with EMI), Gabriela Montero has turned into one of the most talked about pianists. "I have rarely come across a talent like Gabriela's. She is a unique artist.", Martha Argerich remarked and the rest of the artistic world quickly agreed with her. Her debut was an instant sensation – a double disc, featuring Chopin and Scriabin (among others) on side one and her own improvisations on side two. Since then, Gabriela Montero has made this the starting point for her very own, recognisable profile.
