no Bjerga/Iversen: Only the Best will do

Norwegian Sound Sculptors Berja/Iversen are busy putting the finishing touches to a “Best Of”. Currently titled "(Go with the flow) like a twig on the shoulders of a mighty stream", the album will collect pieces from the past four years, documenting their rise from the fusion of two more or less obscure experimental artists into a collaborative project and finally to one of today’s leading duos of the Noise/Drone scene. During these formative years, Bjerga/Iversen mainly built their reputation on two pillars: Their tireless live activities on the one hand, with tours taking them to Germany, Spain and the UK. And their prolific release policy on the other: Even though the assault of CDs has by now somewhat subsided, the Norwegians are still feeding their fans with a diet of a new full-length every 2-3 months. "(Go with the flow) like a twig on the shoulders of a mighty stream" (which, as we were told by Jan-M Iversen, was originally going to be called Reluctant Debutantes”) now binds both elements together on a release which has all the features of a virtual concert.

The most striking feature about this “Best Of” must be its coherency and flow. While the output of Bjerga/Iversen may have seemed of varying quality to some, only the essential moments have made it to "(Go with the flow) like a twig on the shoulders of a mighty stream", which happily glues 16-minute tracks, one minute miniatures and excerpts from hour-long sessions together. The result is psychedelic, bittersweet, metaphorical, threedimensional and extremely spacey and one of the definitive highlights of genres like Industrial and even Ambient this year.

We’ll keep you updated on an exact release date and may even have some copies of this noisy brat of a musical gem to give away for you in the near future, so stay tuned.
