The Orqueste Ciudad de Granada exports Flamenco
On their first visit to the UK, the Orqueste Ciudad de Granada aims to add a
little colour to the grey and cloudy British isle. Their programme of
Stravinksy, Rodrigo, de Falla and Ravel is to hit the Birmingham Symphony
Hall on the 26th, the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on the 27th the Anvil
in Basingstoke on the 28th of April. The show will center around de Fallas
Amor Brujo Ballet Suite and feature Flamenco singer Carmen Linares and
dancer Natalia Ferrandiz. The homepage of the Orchestra is full of alusions
to the Big Bang as well as heavenly and cosmic music and repeatedly states
that music merely fills the space between two periods of silence. With this
in mind, it will be most interesting to see how this modern approach is
applied to new and classical works alike.
