The bagatelle is a small musical piece and nearly always associated with
Beethovens Für Elise. Now Julia Zilberquit, who was born in Russia
but currently resides in New York, has recorded a CD with the "Russian
Seasons"-label from Moscow that deals with fairly unknown bagatelles and
uncovers a veritable treasure chest. The disc, called "Mystery of
Bagatelles" will feature compositions by beforementioned Beethoven as well
as Couperin, Saint-Saens, Lizt and Bartok and - even more excitingly -
Lyadov, Tcherepnin and Denisov, which are said to capture the magic of
Russian poetry and folklore. It is another succesful yourney of discoveries
for Zilberquit, who has already premiered a forgotten Beethoven Piano
Concerto.
