Daniel Schnyder: Worlds Beyond Faust
Tobias FischerDaniel Schnyder follows the influence of Faust on German music through three centuries, and he leads his musical trio along the path of Faustian-diabolic musical traditions. Influences and reminiscences of Liszt and Hahler, along with Schubert, Strauss, and Wagner find their ways into the expression of the compositions, some of which adhere to strict rules and some which include improvisation.
Swiss-born Daniel Schnyder now lives in New York City. He is an active composer for large orchestras such as Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and RSO Berlin, and he works with soloists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Schnyder acts as advisor for special projects to Kristjan Jaervi’s Absolute Ensemble, and he was invited as Composer in Residence for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Yehudi Menuhin Festival. Schnyder’s schedule includes upcoming performances in Austria and Germany; check the calendar at danielschnyder.com for details.
