us Budd bids farewell

Discreet music pioneer performs one last time

Harold Budd, one of the pioneers of Ambient/Discreet music, will set foot on a stage for one last performance during the Brighton Festival 2005. The Concert will take place on Saturday, 21st May at 7:30 at the Concert Hall in Brighton, with no further infos on the programm to be played. What has been given away, however, is a list of friends to join him: The Balanescu Quartet, Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins, Jah Wobble of Public Image Limited, John Foxx of Ultravoxas well as Bill Nelson of Bebop Deluxe. That sounds as though things could go anywhere, but will have its core in the ethereal and sonorously beautiful. For all those interested in his work, his collaborations with Brian Eno ("The Plateaux of Mirror") and the beforementioned Cocteau Twins ("The Moon and the Melodies) are a good starting-point.
