england Bösendorfer & Markson Pianos: Sales Event benefits Festival

After being selected as one of Bösendorfer’s exclusive UK distributors, Markson Pianos are further intensifying their relationship with the famous Piano manufacturer by staging a joint musical charity event. In conjunction with the Two Moors Festival, Markson Pianos will exhibit their spectacular collection of prestigious Bösendorfers at their showroom at Chester Court in London. Every Piano sold during the display will represent a double investment, with profits going both to the new owner (who has just chosen an instrument capable of going the distance) and to the Two Moors Festival – a local initiative “set up to help regenerate Dartmoor, Exmoor and the area between the Moors after the ghastly devastation caused by Foot and Mouth disease”. In 2007, the Festival was struck with near-disaster, when a “slightly embarassing” (as the organisors put it) accident destroyed a 45.000 Pound Bösendorfer grand, which the Two Moors crew had been fundraising for two full years.

At the time, Bösendorfer jumped to the rescue and donated an “Imperial Concert” grand piano. Those bitter memories are now all but history, with organisors sighing in relief that “no one needs reminding of the tragedy” any more. In any case, it has only served to strengthen already existing ties between them and Markson Pianos and the charity event can be seen as a direct result of these links.

The event will take place in sync with the program of the Two Moors Festival in Cadogan Hall on September 17th and start at 2pm. It is open to anyone, “whether you want to buy a Bösendorfer, play one of these magnificent pianos, or just sneak a peek at the splendour of the instrument”, as Simon Markson pointed out.
