The "Hasidic Capella" brings Jewish Music from the vaults to the USA

The Moscow Male Jewish Choir, also known as the "Hasidic Capella", embarked on a tour of the USA, which will see it visit ten different citities until April 15th. What makes their current repertoire so special, is that apart from the obligatory Ba Mir Bistu Sheyn, a lot of well-hidden treasures from the Soviet past will finally see the light of day. With Perestroika came the chance to rebuild a Jewish community and the opportunity for aspiring conductor Alexander Tsaliuk to sift through tons of liturgical material hid away in the safes of the KGB. The Best of that quest has already been performed live in Russia, but the American tour will add to that by including orchestras on occasion and including modern arrangements with latin beats. If you can't make it to the stage, there is a promising DVD available, on which informations is available on the Choir's website.
