Auf Abwegen: Edition 36 finally outAfter almost two years of waiting, the latest edition of Auf Abwegen, Germany’s one and only magazine on experimental music, has finally arrived. Till Kniola must have sighed a breath of relief. Certainly, he had already let it be known that while he was putting the finishing touch to number 36 in a long line of publications, there were still releases arriving in his postbox on a daily basis. Now it is here, readers can look forward to a host of interviews, as well as articles and features on interviews and features on bill viola, fear falls burning, six organs of admittance, coil, mira calix, sunn o)))/earth, the red krayola, battles and more than 300 reviews... At a price of 5 Euros plus postage, some enthusiasts will contemplate taking up German courses just for the sake of being able to read this 92-page gem.
In further news, Auf Abwegen boss Till Kniola (pictured and as of now also a part of the forever growing MySpace community) has announced releases on his label. First off, there will be a 7’’ by Japanese artist Aube, whose tour Kniola has been organising and accompanying last month. There is a special edition produced especially for the live dates, which comes in a limited run of 111 copies signed and handnumbered by Akifumi Nakajima himself (there is also a regular edition available). With new CDs by Asmus Tietchens/Jon Mueller, Roel Meelkop, Column One and others planned, further goodies are on their way.
