Which Hi! How are you? Where are you?
Hi, I’m fine, thanks. I’m from Lyon, France.

What’s on your schedule right now?
We are recording our 5th album. We have just one concert scheduled in June. We have a lot of work!

If you hadn’t chosen for music, what do you think you would do right now?
Wouaouh!! Life without music... I don’t know...I think I would be a cooker. In France, we like cooking..

What or who was your biggest influence as an artist?

There are several kinds of artists that influenced me. But the biggest influence in the way of playing and practicing is: always learn more, staying angry.

What’s the hardest part about being a musician and what’s the best?
The hardest part is that you always have to ask questions about yourself, your artistic choices. The best, is when people come to you after a show and say they liked it, even though you thought it it was horrible. A very good “warm and cold” sensation.

What’s your view on the classical music scene at present? Is there a crisis?

Like in lots of types of musics, we are not far from the crisis... There are many good artists but they are recognized by few people. Just switch on your TV or your radio: good music isn’t broadcasted. There is always the same kinds of sh... Personaly, my TV is just to watch DVD’s. I’m bored about all these things.

Some feel there is no need to record classical music any more, that it’s all been done before. What do you tell them?
Like everything, music is always in evolution. Today, it’s not worse or better, it’s different...

What constitutes a good live performance in your opinion? What’s your approach to performing on stage?
The main aim in music is to communicate (messages, feelings, etc). If the audience receives this, well, you’ve made it... You can feel it as you play, and it’s so great... Our music is hard to play live, sometimes, we fear to miss this communication. Fortunately, it happens quite often...

What does the word “interpretation” mean to you?

The final stage, but not the easiest. There's writing, learning, practicing, and then interpreting... Wondering if it will be great, with all the feelings, the technique... Hard stuff...

True or false: It is the duty of an artist to put his personal emotions into the music he plays.
True. Music is made by humans for humans. No emotions, no music.

True or false: “Music is my first love”
True. It can make you feel happy, strong, powerful. And/or, of course, disappointed, miserable, unfortunate.

True or false: People need to be educated about classical music, before they can really appreciate it.
False. Education hekps to understand it, it's the same with painting. But to appreciate it, you just need a brain and ears. Natural thing.

You are given the position of artistic director of a concert hall. What would be on your program for this season?
I would invite artists from other musical landscapes who wrote classical parts. In first place, Mr Yngwie J. Malmsteen, or Mr Blackmore. But i’m not enough aware about today’s classical scene to tell you some classical artists, sorry ;-)

What’s your favourite classical CD at the moment?

I’ve listened a lot the symphony #35-41 of Mozart. My favorite is #41 “Jupiter”.

Have you ever tried playing a different instrument? If yes, how good were you at it?
Oh yes, Piano, Cello, Bass, with always the same result : DESASTER.... I stay with my dear guitar, it makes less people laugh...
