Hi! How are you? Where are you?
Hello, I'm great! I am in Kiev City, in Ukraine at the moment!

What’s on your schedule right now?

I finished my next album called "Vedana", dedicated to purification by the element of water with Laetitia Morais. She's a visual artist from Portugal (www.3leds.com) and  working on a video for it. We wanted this to be a true colaborational audio-visual release. You can already see some excerpts here: http://vimeo.com/8551205. This is a video from the MadeiraDig 09 festival, where we performed together. I hope everything is Ok with the people on Madeira Island now.

What’s your view on the music scene at present? Is there a crisis?

It's a strange situation, but there is still plenty of good music. From what I can see, people are tired of mass-music.

Do you see yourself as part of a certain tradition or as part of a movement?

Hmmm... :-) I just like to make art.

What, would you say, are the factors of your creativity? What “inspires” you?

My inspiration derivesfrom different areas: Strange music, weird movies, nature, love and strong emotions, Ukraine.

How would you describe your method of composing?

I want to find a balance in music. I actually draw my ideas.

How do you see the relationship between sound and composition?
Sound is everywhere. Compositions are in your head.

How strictly do you separate improvising and composing?

Improvisation is an integral part of composing in my music. Composing is a very concentrated process to me, like meditating.

Do you personally enjoy multimedia as an enrichment or do you feel that it is leading away from the essence of what you want to achieve?

I think it is very interesting when art is absorbing and moves from one form of expression to another. But for me, music is always the most important thing.

What constitutes a good live performance in your opinion? What’s your approach to performing on stage?

I like when, in alive performance, you have elements of improvisation and prepared structure.

Do you feel an artist has a certain duty towards anyone but himself? Or to put it differently: Should art have a political/social or any other aspect apart from a personal sensation?

I don't like social art. I like magic in music and art in general. I think social or political things are important, but not for art.

You are given the position of artistic director of a festival. What would be on your program?

Artistic director? Hehehe :-) I would invite interesting artists to share their ideas with each other.

Many artists dream of a “magnum opus”. Do you have a vision of what yours would sound like?

Drops of water merging, tinkling and turning into the sound of a voice :-)
