Concept:
Established in 1994 by music journalist Anil Prasad, Innerviews is the Web’s first and longest-running music magazine. Innerviews delivers in-depth, uncompromising interviews that enable artists to speak at length about topics that matter to them. The magazine features a wide variety of genres, including rock, jazz, world music, pop, hip-hop, and folk.
Why we like it:
In an ideal world, every publication should be like Innerviews. In the reality we live in, it a remarkable exception – and the gold standard of music magazines. In his expansive interviews, Anil Prasad doesn't just ask questions. He takes his conversation partners to the core of their work, to places they may not even have been aware of themselves. Although Prasad gives a unique twist to each conversation, there are nonetheless recurring themes running through all of them: Innerviews is about the truth behind the trivia, about the personality behind the image, about spirituality in a despiritualised world, about supporting artists in an increasingly unrespectful environment.
In 2011, Anil Prasad published a book containing some of the finest moments from almost two decades of Innerviews. Click here to check it out.
