Time for presents

The Borodin String Quartet has something to celebrate

For sixty years, the Borodin Quartet has been at the forefront of String music. To celebrate this incredible anniversary, as well as cellist Valentin Berlinskys 80th birthday, a special concert will take place at Wigmore Hall (London) on Sunday May 22nd. Three generations of Berlinskys will perform at the event: Valentin, Ludmilla, Maria Matalaev-Berlinskaia (on piano) and, of course, Dmitry, who's still an active member of the current Quartet. On the menu will be Rachmaninov, Glazunov, Schubert and Dvorak. The concert will only mark a short "rest" for the Borodins, who have taken on their resedency at the Casa da Music in Porto, which will see them performing a complete cycle of Beethoven and Shostakovich artets.
