global Tasty Cookie

Bond, asian-style

Just when you thought the world had seen enough Pop-Classics Crossver-bands, they seem to be violently popping up across the globe. One of the most succesful incarnations is Korean group Elec Cookie, which is probably supposed to mean something clever, but we can't figure out, what. The band consists of three girls, performing on electronic violin, electronic piano and electronic cello. The fact that they have one musician less in their ranks compared to competitors Bond is easily compensated by an enthousiastic live performance and some energetic and fresh compositions. As always, their repertoire consists of classical and modern pieces in poppy arrangements ("Concerto d'Aranjuez"), traditionals and some instrumentals penned by their producers. It's not exactly new but the mixture is presented in a positive way and only cynics will find this totally impossible to digest. Up to now, Elec Cookie has mostly performed at trade fairs in Asia, but this is bound to change as they launch their first album entitled "Temptation" which is released and promoted by BMG. Response has been overwhelmingly positive and apart from boasting some raving online blog entries, their music was played at quite a few official happenings, such as the inauguration of the first American plant by car manufacturer Hyundai. Watch out for them as they prepare to conquer Europe as well!
