CD Feature/ Organum: "Amen"

And the word was... new constructed material by David Jackman fills the room. It’s a small room. For some people – a very f*!?ing small room! But at the moment while these august sounds flow out of the speakers – the whole environment transforms to a cloud licking hall – so high that there are rainclouds forming underneath the ceiling. A cathedral of tears.

For „Amen“ Jackman used the same instrumentaion as on the predecessor „Sanctum“ (released on Robot Records): church organ and piano chords – several percussive elements (but very calm in both cases). Of course there can be a million more things behind this wall of drone – but then they are as subtle as the sound of grass growing. For this new release Jackman added a choir repeating the word „Amen“ in regular intervals (around every 10 seconds). The whole piece (consisting of two 20 minutes during tracks) is highly stimulating and calming – you wouldn’t even move just when the rainclouds start to burst. And they will – because there is also a subtle driving force behind this sacral architecture. A particular kind of climax – of which some would say it really does not exist. Not on this record where both tracks sound exactly the same.

Superficial hearing? Maybe they‘re right, maybe I just got trapped by Mister Jackman (wouldn’t be the first time). But maybe...just find out on your own – you really have the time for this. Amen!
